Takeaway review, Calcutta Brasserie – Milton Keynes

One thing that has remained a constant for Feg and me during lockdown has been takeaways.

I am so damn grateful that we’re still able to order a takeaway during the lockdown. Eating in has become the new going out for every UK couple’s date night.

If you’re from Milton Keynes it’s likely you would have heard of Calcutta. Either from their super catchy jingle played on our local radio stations. Or from people talking about how beautiful their restaurant is.

Calcutta is Situated on Stony Stratford high street and is set in a 17th-century chapel which is decorated with Indian paraphernalia.

Calcutta kindly treated us this Friday to a takeaway in exchange for an honest review.

Since I last ate at Calcutta I have become a vegetarian, so had to reconsider my options this time around. Overall they have a great menu with an array of unique south Asian dishes to suit everyone. I was also really impressed to find a dedicated menu for Vegetarians, which made choosing our food a lot simpler.

What we ordered:

Mushroom combo, Punjabi Choie, Mix veggie platter, Pilau rice and popadoms.

The Mushroom combo is insanely good. I wanted to branch out a little from my usual order (Tika or Korma, I know, I know) for the sake of this review and I’m so glad I did. It was creamy, full of garlic and had just the right amount of spice. This dish might have nabbed itself a top spot as my new go-to main.

Feg wasn’t sure what to order, as he said (and I quote) “everything looks lush”. In the end, though, he opted for the Punjabi Chole, which reminded me of a traditional tikka but with chickpeas instead of potatoes (or chicken).

The stand out dish for me had to be the mixed vegetable platter. Which had a dreamy mix of paneer tikka, vegetable samosas, chowk ki Tikki, mushroom pakora and onion bhajis; all served with chutney and salad. It was ideal for sharing between the two of us.

Everything arrived well packaged and piping hot ready to devour (After I took a copious amount of photos first, of course)

I highly recommend Calcutta Brasserie takeaway if you’re based in Milton Keynes or the surrounding area.

They currently have a deal on at the moment too. If you place your order before 7:30 pm you’ll receive a 20% discount off your final bill. You can find their menu here.

And because I’m certain you’ll be ready to dial their number once you glance at the menu above, here is the contact number 01908 566577.

Until next time.

Love,
