Last week I was in total chocolate heaven, whilst I sat, snuggled up in the new cafe on the block.
Hotel Chocolat Milton Keynes, has recently had a revamp, and have now opened their very own cafe at the back of their store.
The cafe boasts hygge vibes, left, right and centre.
The space is light and open plan, with warm grey table tops, chairs and booths, perfect to get settled into whilst you enjoy some well deserved ‘me time’.
The decor is understated, relaxed, and aesthetically pleasing. I wont lie, I was definitely trying to conjure up an elaborate lie in order to nab myself one of their grey chairs! And dont even get me started on the tiles!
The staff are super lovely. As we arrived, we were welcomed by Jamie, the store manager, who instantly made us feel at home, as she took our orders. I ordered the Milky hot chocolate, and Feargus had a Cappuccino.
If you’re not a big hot chocolate drinker, i’d say the milky hot chocolate is the perfect one to try first. It’s creamy and smooth, with just the right amount of kick from the rich cocoa. It’s made entirely using grated flakes from Hotel Chocolat’s 50% milk chocolate.
If you’re feeling extra indulgent, you can opt to have the chocolate moose on top, although I would only recommend this if you’re feeling extra hungry, as its very filling!
Hotel Chocolat’s regular hot choc’s are £3.50, or £3.95 for a large, which in the scheme of things, is pretty reasonable for a luxury hot drink.
Feargus and I were also treated a few chocolatey nibbles whilst we sat and enjoyed our hot drinks. We had chocolate tasters, and brownies; including a classic chocolate brownie, walnut brownie and the salted caramel, all of which were moist, and ridiculously Moorish!
Lastly, I have to mention the Autumn H-box, because, wow.
If like me, you happen to be a fan of all things Autumn, then this little beauty will be entirely up your street!
The Autumn H box, includes 14 chocolates, that all have comforting, autumnal flavours.
Picture cosy camp fires, blackberry picking, Grandma’s cooking, and naughty evening tipples.
Whenever I buy a big box of chocolates, I usually find a few flavours that I’m not fond of, and to be honest, I wish i could say the same for this box, because I devoured them within one evening. (Oink)
Each chocolate was absolutely delicious, and provided such a taste explosion. I know Hotel Chocolat is on the higher end of the price range in terms of chocolatiers, but you can totally taste that difference. The quality and attention to flavour, is second to none.
The descriptions for each chocolate are written perfectly. Some of the flavours, particularly the Apple crumble with spiced caramel, brought back such lovely nostalgic memories of my Nan’s cooking!
My favourites were:
Treacle tart –
A childhood favourite. Sticky toffee and a squeeze of lemon served in milk, topped with corn flakes for that classic pastry texture.
Ultimate Caramel –
Much more caramel than is strictly sensible. Thick salted caramel, caramel pecan praline, crispy eclat, caramel cap.
Apple Crumble –
Flavours of cooked apple ad spiced caramel with a crumbly crunch. As good as Grandma’s.
Walnut Praline –
Roast walnuts served smooth in a mellow praline.
I cannot recommend Hotel Chocolat’s products enough. They are the perfect gift for an occasion, or if you’re feeling extra lavish, a little ‘pick me up’ for yourself to enjoy, with a cup of tea and a good book.
