I was recently invited along to my first Christmas in July event, hosted by Task PR.

I have to confess when i got the invite, to say I was excited would of be a bit of an understatement.

I am one of those people that absolutely adores Christmas. As I’ve mentioned countless times before,  Autumn/Winter are easily my favourite seasons, and even before I began blogging I was keen to attend a Christmas in July event.

When I arrived I was given a tour of the showroom. It was beautifully set out, with subtle festivities and christmas music playing in the background. They’re were refreshments upon arrival including fresh pastries, tea, coffee, and juice. (Naturally, I gravitated towards the coffee)

After I had my tour, I was left to my own devices to explore, discover and snap some photos.

I couldn’t help but run my hands along all the beautiful garments. There was such a great array of clothing textures, each brand boasting such unique, detailed pieces.

The art of relaxation – for dreamers, doers and do-nothings.

I enjoyed discovering lots of new brands that I hadn’t heard of prior to the event.

One of my fave new discoveries was Yawn. A brand that specialise in women’s Nightwear. They create women’s pyjama sets, along with other accessories associated with a good nights slumber, including eye masks and cashmere socks.

I would say they are on the higher end in terms of price range, averaging at around £80 per set, however the quality and the attention to detail is second to none. The patterns used have all been hand painted and each set is made using bespoke cotton-sateen for a super-soft, luxurious feel.

I quickly fell in love with ASH footwear, particularly their new range of suede boots. The midnight blue, embellished heeled boots were honestly the best statement shoe I have probably ever seen. (A bold statement, but I completely stand by it) if you are a shoe lover, go and check out their AW range, you might leave their website with a lighter purse, but you certainly won’t regret it.

I absolutely adore Marc Cain clothing! It is elegant, understated yet packs a punch!

“Marc Cain combines a sense of aesthetics and art with a laid-back attitude, a natural look, innovative thinking and exclusivity.  Marc Cain is a declaration love to a woman”.

Their shoes were my favourite part of their new range. (I know, shock, horror)

The flat ballerinas were truly something special. I am big sucker for a pointed flat, especially if its embellished!

Another thing i appreciated about their range was the colours. They were one of the few brands to incorporate autumnal colours into their new A/W range. I loved the browns, burnt oranges and creamy, latte tones.

“Caroline Gardner is best known as one of the UK’s leading and most prolific stationery and gift designers”.

Mixing it up a bit now, but i wanted to ensure i included Caroline Gardner’s new range within this post, because this is a lifestyle brand i have loved for years! and was super excited to know the range was going to be showcased.

As you can see from the photos, it was a great mix of clothing, accessories and lifestyle bits and pieces. Definitely something for everyone, and lots of lovely stocking fillers!

I really liked the trinket dish, the chunky knit scarf and the homeware bits.

A family run clothing business that specialise in knitwear and distinctive prints.

Knitwear that celebrates craftsmanship to the full. Fine and soft. Elegant and light. Warm and snug. Caressing the skin. Decorative yet extremely comfortable.

Prints that brighten up the collection, combining colours, inspirations, passions of the season. An expression of pure joie de vivre. Every single piece is full of passion and the aspiration to be special, different. A combination of contradictions and yet a harmonious unity.

Oui boasts exceptional attention to detail. Fashionable and effortlessly fashion-conscious. Surprising, inspiring and full of joie de vivre.

Journeys – Memories – Fragrance.

Last, but by no means least, Lavender & Lillie.

If you know me personally, you’ll know how much i bloody love candles. So, this discovery was a great success. Lavender & Lillie is owned by a couple who have created a range of scented candles inspired by their travels around the world. Starting with Venice, India and London.

The event had something to suit everyone, with a great mix of affordable accessories and clothing, combined with quality high end fashion pieces, and lifestyle items that make for perfect stocking fillers, thrown in.

I hope you enjoyed this post!.

Hopefully you have discovered brands you hadn’t heard of before, and feel inspired for Christmas gifts!

A special thank you Task PR for inviting me along to the event.

If we’re pals on Instagram then you’ve probably seen some snaps from Italy!

If not head over to have a nosey >> here <<

Whilst in Italy we visited Verona (home of the famous Juliette’s balcony) Lake Garda and Venice, all of which were absolutely magical! (not to mention super instagrammable).

Just before we went I was sent a few holiday items from Joy which i wanted to share with you guys!

If you’ve never heard of Joy Clothing before you are seriously missing out!

JOY is a fashion and lifestyle brand, known for it’s innovative womenswear, menswear, accessories and an eclectic mix of fun, quirky and stylish gifts. Amongst a tempting range of handpicked brands is JOY’s principal label is Louche; designed-by women, for women.

I feel super grateful to have had the chance to work with such a great team and brand! So, without further ado, I hope you love my Italy summer edit picks!

first up . . .

Louche Hawkins Beach Bag

Because you can’t have a summer hols without the perfect beach bag! And this little beauty will get you into the summer vacay spirit!

This gorgeous bag comes in yellow and blue, both colours perfectly suited for catching rays at the beach!

This tote boasts a sturdy (very nautical) rope handle and a practical little pocket with a zip closure to make sure all your important bits and bobs are safe and sound, and away from the sand!

5-Pocket super stretch jeans

An item that (in my humble opinion) is a must have staple when it comes to a summer hols. If you’re someone who gets a killer tan, these would look incredible for an evening out, paired with a cami or long flowing top and sandals. Or if you’re like me you don’t tan then rock them with a bright coloured top for that added POP of colour.

Gold Cactus Necklace

Let’s take a moment to talk about this necklace, because 1, you’ll see it throughout this post and 2, im a little bit obsessed with it.

I am usually not a big fan of gold jewellery. I must confess i thought (up until now) i was exclusively a silver jewellery kind of gal, but this necklace is just lovely.

The adorable summery Cactus charm hangs delicately on a dainty gold chain; a simple, understated accessory to add the finishing touch to any outfit.

Valley of the Dolls Cactus playsuit

Inject some fun and playfulness into your summer wardrobe with this gorgeous navy blue playsuit by Valley of the Dolls.

This playsuit is without a doubt my fave item from this edit. With an all-over print of cute Cacti in adorable yellow pots this pattern will undoubtedly steal hearts.

The Square-fit shorts are super comfortable, making this playsuit the perfect item to pack for your holiday! I paired mine with a simple plain white T-shirt and mustard coloured sandals, for an effortlessly cute holiday outfit.

Louche Santina pleated midi skirt

The last few years iv’e started to become more true to my own sense of style and learnt to embrace bold and vibrant colours.

The Santina Pleated Midi Skirt comes in an eye-catching royal blue and the incredibly striking vermillion red. Both midi skirts have sun ray pleats that are so on-trend this year. The waist band cinches in at the waist, giving the pleats free reign to skim down over your hips and fall beautifully.

This skirt is so versatile and flattering for any body type/shape. Wear with a simple, light colour on top to keep all eyes on your beautiful, bold skirt.

Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed this post!

I’m off to Italy next week, so i thought i’d share a bit of my routine with you guys.

Beauty prep.

Hair removal

For me the most important thing before going away has to be hair removal, I like to do it the day before so I am sure it will last the whole holiday. I normally dont have the time to go and get a full wax, so i’ll usually just invest in a good razor for sensitive skin and a shaving cream to do it myself. I know more and more women are feeling liberated and no longer feel the need to remove all their hair, which i have nothing but big respect for, but i personally always feel better and ready for a summer holiday once my legs are super smooth and ‘beach ready. Also don’t forget to do your eyebrows for all those makeup-free beach selfies. I recommend the Reflections of me tweezers for this job, they offer great precision for a neat brow in the comfort of your own home.

Face masks

If you have time for a face-mask, i’d highly recommend doing one or two leading up to your holiday. They leave your face feeling fresh and moisturised, which is handy as summer holidays tend to suck the moisture out of your skin. I’ve been using the Lush mask of Magnaminty which is great for combating breakouts and leaving your skin feeling nourished and refreshed.

False tanning

I am super pale, so the idea of getting in a bikini without any tan is a little daunting! So, a few days prior i begin to use an overnight tinted moisturiser to give me more of a healthy glow. (Remember to give it a day after shaving before applying the tan!)

I use the Dove – medium to dark summer revived lotion, which i have used for years and 100% swear by. In my opinion, it’s a fautless product, it applies well and doesn’t have that fake tan smell that is usually associated with tanning products.

I also recently picked up the Zoella body fondant – shimmer balm, with holiday in mind. It’s a light, magical shimmer that looks perfect on top of a holiday glow.

Whether you head to the salon or DIY your mani/pedi, pop your chosen colour in your luggage to top up any chips whilst you’re away! if you’re someone who tans easily why not show off your tan with a pop of neon or keep things classic with more nude shades.

A friend at work told me to pack bug spray, as Venice has a lot of midges. So, if like me, you’re heading to a country where you’ll be wearing a strong bug spray then i’d opt for a gel manicure, as the ingredients in mosquito repellent can sometimes melt off your nail vanish!

Stocking up and packing.

The weekend before I’m due to travel, you’ll usually find me lurking in a supermarket and in the beauty aisles of Superdrug and boots, stocking up on the holiday essentials.

First up, Sun cream. Nivea, is and probably always will be, my go to brand for suncreams. As i mentioned above, i have fair skin so i usually stock up on the high factor lotions. As it’s incredibly hot in Italy at the moment i will likely get the Nivea sun cream spray in a factor 30+.

Another thing i like to purchase to pack in my carry on is travel minis. Shampoos, conditioners, shower gels and tooth pastes, they are the ideal size, take up little room and are perfect for a quick freshen up on the plane. For summer holiday’s i tend to pick up shampoos that have scents of coconut or mango, something i associate with the sunshine and a beach. Don’t ask me why, it’s just something iv’e always done!

Finally, I recently I got sent a beauty essentials package from Reflections of me which included, tweezers, eye lash curlers, makeup sponges and a beautiful makeup brush set. Perfect timing and such a great brand for these kind of bits. ROM actually specialise in bespoke mirrors, however alongside this they also sell beauty related products. I am really impressed with the quality of each product i was sent, especially the makeup brush set. It is super inexpensive and includes 12 brushes! Not to mention the fact they come in an adorable storage tin that is PEEERFECT for holiday packing!

Unlike most people, i actually really enjoy packing (I know, i must be weird!) but it really gets me excited and in the mood for holiday.

For carry on, you are usually allowed one carry on sized suitcase (max =  22 cm x 35 cm x 56 cm) and one ‘personal item.’ Your personal item can be a purse, backpack, or smaller bag. I tend to go for a small backpack.

I picked up this backpack (which i’m a little obsessed with, and yes, shock horror, it’s yellow!) from Urban outfitters. As far as a back-pack goes, I love that this one has a zipper pouch on the front that I can stick my passport, boarding pass, and money in for easy access.

Inside my backpack, I fit my laptop, a book (or two), my phone charger, computer charger, makeup-bag, face wipes, travel minis (shampoo, conditioner etc) and a toothbrush. I also tend to pack a spare pair of undies, a T-shirt and a bikini just incase my suitcase decides to go walkabouts!

Hope you enjoyed this post.

Have you got any trips planned?

* ROM kindly sent me the items mentioned – all my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.

Winding down and mindful moments.

Summer is slowly coming to an end, which for most of you is a sad thing, but for me on the other hand; i am totally okay with this.

If you know me, you will know i LOVE Autumn/Winter. The cosy evenings in, the crisp, colourful leaves and the Starbucks toffee nut lattes- BRING. IT. ON.

Since i recently read ‘The little book of Hygge’ I thought i’d share my favourite things to do when i’m needing a little ‘me time’ and want more hygge in my life.

First things first, I am a strong believer in the saying ‘Tidy room, tidy mind’.

I cannot begin to even think about unwinding until the space around me is tidy. When i get ready in the mornings i tend to make a bit of a mess, so of an evening when i get home i have a super quick tidy. Only when this is done will i begin to feel more relaxed and ready to chill.

Planning & lists

Another thing i like to do (usually on a sunday evening) is plan out my week in my planner. This helps me to feel more organised and thus, more ready to face the week. I plan out what blog posts i need to write, what photos need to be taken and edited and any other bits and pieces that is going on throughout that week.

Now for the more relaxing part, and yep, you guessed it…

An absolute must for me. I pretty much have candles lit every single evening after i come home from work. They’re super cosy and make me feel instantly more content and relaxed.

At the moment i am obsessed with two scents from Village candle Company.

The first is a Coffee bean candle, which (obviously) i can’t get enough of! It’s the most beautiful earthy smell of freshly brewed coffee that will leave your whole house smelling good enough to eat.. well, drink.

The second is the Cosy home candle, which honestly just smells like Christmas. (whats not to love!?) a fragrance of cinnamon, clove and tea is a perfect combination for a snuggly night in front of the tele. ooo and did i mention that these candles have a dual wick and can burn for up to 170 hours! (That’s A LOT of cosy time)

Bubble baths

I am such a sucker for a hot bubble bath, especially in the colder months. I like discovering and trying new bath/shower products, and i think this is why i love baths etc so much, because i usually have an endless supply of goodies to try out!

My go to bath product is Brightside bubble bar from Lush. It’s scent is heavenly, not to mention the masses of light, soft bubbles it creates. I am also really digging Zoella’s new range – Jelly and Gelato.

Comfy clothing/Pyjamas

So recently i have re-discovered matching pyjamas sets. I usually just throw on a T-shirt for bed, but after i bought a gorgeous pink set from ASOS, i’m now loving getting into them. I suppose its sort of the same feeling as when you wear matching underwear, you kind of feel like you’ve got your shit together.

Films, books and magazines.

I love nothing more than switching off from the world and entering an entirely new one. Wither that be getting lost in a good book, flicking through your favourite magazine, or simply watching a film, there is no better feeling than getting out the bath, changing into clean pjs, lighting a few candles and snuggling up to watch a film or read a book.

I don’t know what it is but holding a hot mug in my hands, but it makes me feel instantaneously more cosy and at peace. I have discovered a new found love of calming camomile tea and would recommend giving this a go as a night cap.

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post.

What are your favourite ways to unwind?
